Which device converts electrical energy into mechanical energy in a standard system?

Motors

Converting electrical energy into mechanical energy is the job of a motor. In standard systems, electricity energizes the motor’s windings, creating magnetic fields that interact to generate torque. This torque turns a shaft, turning electrical energy into kinetic energy to drive devices like fans, pumps, or wheels. Generators do the opposite, turning mechanical energy into electrical energy. Batteries store chemical energy and provide electrical energy, but they don’t themselves convert electricity into motion. Transformers change voltage in electrical circuits without changing the energy’s form to motion. So the device that produces mechanical movement from electrical energy is the motor.
